21st Century Urban Development Challenges
The Mayor’s Office of Veszprém Municipal City is organising a conference entitled Towards the Capital of Culture – 21st Century Urban Development Challenges in Veszprém’s Hangvilla on 7th May 2018. The aim of the event is to present and explore urban development strategies and viewpoints which provide answers and tools to solve everyday problems and work towards a long-term strategy to help cities emerge from dead-end situations in the social, transport, property development, heritage management, and technological spheres.
Chief Patron of the conference: Dr. Tibor Navracsics Tibor, European Commissioner for Education, Culture, Youth and Sport
Professional Patron of the conference: Dr. Tamás Meggyesi DSC. professor emeritus, architect, urban planner
Keynote Speaker: Jan Gehl, architect, urban planner, author of the renowned volume Cities for People, professor emeritus of the Royal Danish Academy of Fine Arts, an outstanding figure in urban planning over the past forty years.

As a closing act of the conference, Jan Gehl will have a signing session of his volume Cities for People. Copies may be purchased at the conference venue for the whole duration of the event.
