Félix Lajkó was born in Topolya (Vojvodina) on the 17th of December 1974 in the sign of the Sagittarius (Beethoven was born on this very day in 1770). He was raised by a music-loving family, no member of which has previously chosen music as their profession.

His first musical instrument was the zither, he became familiar with it at the age of 10. His first time holding a violin was in 6th grade. He graduated from the elementary music school of Kishegyes in three years. He left the musical secondary school of Subotica in his second year for Budapest where he joined the Dresch Quartet with a borrowed violin. Ever since then he’s been regularly commuting between Budapest and Subotica as a representative of both his motherland and Vojvodina.

“The basis for my music is the sensitivity and diversity of my instrument. I don’t play any of the new musical styles, I only follow my own way, improvising, composing. I don’t differentiate between styles and trends: I play folk music as well as classical, rock, blues, jazz and improvised music too.”

He played alongside many renowned bands and personalities. He was a member of György Szabados’ band, Makúz, and of Boris Kovač’s band, Ritual Nova as well. He performed with the world-famous bhuto dancer Min Tanaka on multiple occasions, and played with the French band, Noir Désir too. He participated in several concerts of Alexander Balanscu, the romani brass band of Boban Markovič. He composed music for several theatrical plays as well; among others the full musical score for the Theatre of Subotica’s Public Enemy, but he’s also regularly worked for Jozef Nadj as musical accompaniement as well as for Yvette Bozsik’s choreographies.
