In two months the Fiume or as most of us know it the Rijeka 2020 European Capital of Culture will start its programme. Our Croatian friends have invited the Bakony-Balaton region to the 2020 Carnival.

The size of the carnival is indicated by the huge number of performers. More than 3000 people will take part in the parade, not including the organisers and the audience which is estimated to be over hundred thousands. Our ECOC team has published the opportunity to represent our city in the carnival in an open call and had a jury to decide which team to represent us in the most popular event of Croatia.

Three teams have applied to the difficult call. The applicants were: Ablak a múltra Egyesület, the Reformkori Hagyományőrzők Társaság from Balatonfüred and the team of Kabóca Bábszínház and the Pannon Egyetem Veszprémi Egyetemi Színpad. All three application was very high standard and was providing a great insight into the history and the culture of Balaton and Bakony region.

The winner is the Kabóca Bábszínház and the Pannon Egyetem Veszprémi Egyetemi Színpad who imagined their parade with a harvest and traditional wedding theme. The story includes the young couple to enter on stilts who will be accompanied by a carriage of life-size puppet orchestra.
