Veszprém's reputation has reached Dubrovnik

For centuries, gastronomic values have been part of the culture of nations. The treasure trove of the Lake Balaton Uplands is not only a repository of unique natural and artistic-cultural riches: it is our mission to promote the delicacies of the region's gastronomic and cultural offer.

We are delighted to have been invited by the Dubrovnik Tourist Board and the City Hall to present the region's gastronomic specialities at the Good Food Festival of Dubrovnik from 12-15 October 2022. At the event, which was organised specifically for top gastronomy professionals, opinion leaders and those with a keen interest in gastronomy, the local products presented by our team were received with a genuine interest. The gourmet audience, who had 'tasted a lot', praised the Bakony truffle delicacies served, and then, sipping sparkling wines from innovative producers of the Balaton Wine Region, they engaged in future-oriented discussions about the possibilities of cooperation between Veszprém and Dubrovnik.

The delegation, led by Vice Mayor of Veszprém Mária Brányi, visited Dubrovnik to strengthen the cultural, tourism and economic links between the two cities and explore how they can be made official. The presentation of the gastronomy of the Bakony-Balaton region has helped to further strengthen the already excellent relationship between Veszprém and Dubrovnik.

"The long-term objectives of the Veszprém-Balaton 2023 European Capital of Culture include as a priority the further economic development of the region, for which we can create excellent opportunities through gastronomic and cultural cooperation", said Péter Tungli, the manager responsible for the gastronomic areas of our programme, summarising the results of the five-member delegation's work.

The delicacies presented in Dubrovnik were made up of sparkling wines by Ottó Légli, Kreinbacher and Pálffy Wineries and truffle products from 'Erdőkerülő'.
