Dóra Maurer is an outstanding artist of the Hungarian neo-avant-garde generation. Her art, her educational and transnational art mediation activities have made her a dominant figure on both the Hungarian and international art scene. Her international renown has been deservedly enhanced by a retrospective exhibition at the Tate in London in 2019.
Vaszary Gallery in Balatonfüred presents a diverse selection of Maurer's early graphic works, paintings and conceptual photography. The exhibition focusses on the emergence of the problematics of historicity in Maurer's work over more than six decades: the multi-layered play of art historical references, the possibilities of representing temporality, the dilemmas of the visualisation and (age) relativity of stories and narrative structures.
Exhibition venue: Vaszary Gallery, Balatonfüred
Opening planned for September-December 2023
