FOTON Audiovisual Centre
In the spring of 2023, the long-vacant building with its courtyard at 17, Vár Street, the Fire Tower and the Parapet Walk will open as a single, multifunctional new community and cultural hub.
An auditorium, a café, an exhibition space, and a renewed hanging garden – areas for various community programmes, concerts, talks, screenings, workshops, book launches or public meetings will be created and renovated. The basement will also house Fixir, the House of Arts' digital creative workshop. In addition, a mobile outdoor stage and seating area will be erected in the courtyard of the Fire Tower. It will be a venue suited, weather allowing, for outdoor theatre performances, music evenings or afternoon family activities.
FOTON will be the site of media art and film screenings, artist and audience meetings, and film and media workshops for amateurs (with high school and university students as a priority target group) and professionals alike. We hope FOTON will become a reference point for many institutions in Veszprém and even nationwide – as a regional meeting point for creative professionals.
The building will gain a new lease on life: transformed into a multifunctional arts and culture centre where different arts – film, music, visual arts, theatre, literature, etc. – can present themselves in a wide range of cultural programmes.
