S.T.A.M.P - Studio where The Art Meets Practice

S.T.A.M.P. is short for Studio Where the Art Meets Practice. We address children between 5 and 15 years of age with tailor-made implements of art and design. We stimulate their imagination and give them the tools to formulate strong opinions and ideas about Veszprém’s built and physical environment.

Since Veszprém is also a city of children, we believe we need to pay attention to their needs and ideas to use and preserve them as a value for the future.

For a long time, DEMO Association has been active in creating and organising communities in Veszprém. At S.T.A.M.P., we thoroughly map the children's communities of seven districts (Dózsaváros, Bakonyalja, Újtelep, Belváros, Cholnoky, Egyetemváros, Egry Housing Estate) and the unique connection linking them to their homes. As a next step, in their own way, and working closely with these communities, they will discover, recreate and complement the streets and parks of Veszprém, even the environs of their own school, through playful, creative activities, excursions, workshops, exercises and interactive lessons.

Be it a media workshop, a video and animation creating session, a design workshop, a full day of tinkering, drilling and carving, dedicated project days, creative weeks, volunteer programmes, family events or creative community workshops... everyone will find the opportunity, the format and the tool to breathe life into his ideas.

S.T.A.M.P. encourages children to discover, shape, imagine and show things and, in the process, makes them realise that they have a stake in their creative communal activities: they can actively influence the life and culture of a city. The four milestones of the programme are:

• DISCOVER – Together we explore the children’s vision and experiences of Veszprém
• SHAPE – We use creative tools to help children, their families and schools formulate ideas about the city
• IMAGINE – Planning sessions help design larger installations that will emerge in iconic places for children in Veszprém
• SHOW – A large-scale closing event will allow all participants to present their creations. The event will ensure that the resulting designs are recognised and summarised
