A New Home for Class Trips on Jókai Street

The renovation of an old house, out of use for over a decade and a half on Jókai Street, one of the oldest roads in Veszprém, will revive one of the city's heritage buildings.

The renovated building will function mainly as a hostel for groups of students and backpackers preferring to travel sharing-economy-style (on public transport, sharing rooms and services, etc.), with full respect to environmental sustainability. The new accommodations will have a communal area for interactive leisure and a unique and exciting design that meets today’s needs.

Bedrooms with bathrooms will be on the first floor. The six guest rooms will accommodate 33 guests, 36 with extra beds. The rooms will be furnished with bunk beds, except for one fully accessible for the disabled. The rooms will have separate entrances and may be rented out individually. A dining area and a café open to the public will be available for guests. The café will be accessible from both the street and the courtyard. In the summer, tables can be set up in the paved area of the yard, and the café will also be suitable as a venue for outdoor events.

The romantic style of the exterior façade and the neoclassical character of the yard of this restored national heritage building will be a sight to admire. It will preserve its architectural values for future generations.

The development is closely linked to the renewal of the dungeon museum and exhibition space. The entrance to the dungeon will be built into the Ruttner House. It is from here that visitors will enter the dungeon and enjoy the new museum and exhibition.
