InterUrban: Novi Sad - The Shock Cooperative exhibition
What can art achieve in wartime, what is its role in peace? What makes art relevant and what remains as its temporal and social contexts fade? The Shock Cooperative poses these and similar questions through showcasing their own archive in a set of suitcases.
Novi Sad’s art collective has gathered artists, art historians, social scientists, journalists and other freethinkers for 30 years, responding to conflict and hardship via the language of art. Seeking direct action, forging community, looking for answers and questions has been their trademark in these three decades. Bringing heavily loaded suitcases, these blatantly symbolic objects to Veszprém summarises the collective’s past and unfading presence.
