After Budapest and Debrecen, the Night of Literature invites you to an extraordinary world literature walk in Veszprém: for three evenings in November, teachers and students of the Pannon Theatre School (PASZTA), founded by VEB2023, will read excerpts from 27 authors from 27 countries, covering the many shades of the world literature palette, in nine atmospheric locations in Veszprém Castle, every day between 19:00 and 22:00.

This year's theme, to which the selected texts are linked, is: FOOTPRINTS.

At each venue, a 10-15 minute excerpt of a work by one composer will be performed in parallel every half hour, starting at 19:00. Each venue will offer a taste of literature from a different country on each day. You can plan your own literary itinerary for the day, using a printed map. Each day there will be readings with a sign language interpreter for deaf and hard of hearing guests.

The lucky winners will be able to win a valuable book package in a game linked to the event. The rules will be published the week before the event.

The first Night of Literature was held in Prague in 2006, the Czech Centre in Budapest took the initiative to establish it in Hungary, and since 2016 it has been held every year.Since 2019, Debrecen has also been hosting the special atmosphere of the readings, alongside Budapest. Starting as a one-day event, the Night of Literature was expanded to a 3-night programme in 2020. The project is organised by EUNIC Hungary (the umbrella organisation of the cultural departments of European cultural institutes and embassies in Budapest).

Participation in the programme is free of charge and does not require prior registration.
