Off-Season International Contemporary Literature Festival
Off-Season International Contemporary Literature Festival, the flagship literary event of the Veszprém-Balaton 2023 European Capital of Culture programme, will take place for the second time between 23rd-26th February 2023. This year, literature enthusiasts will be welcomed in Veszprém for 4 days longer than last year, at 13 venues and with over a 100 programmes.
The original concept of the festival will not be changed in 2023: Off-Season is a multidisciplinary art festival that focusses primarily on literature, including those fringe genres that many people enjoy but rarely see at cultural events.
As well as being longer, this year's Off-Season will also be international in scope, with a number of renowned international artists joining the event, including Leopold Maurer, a comic book artist from Vienna, and Kira Poutanen, a Finnish author of a novel for teens and young adults.
In addition to the range of performances, the festival also places a strong emphasis on audience engagement with a number of workshops - comic book making, crime writing, songwriting, puppet theatre, creative writing, conceptual graphics, graffiti - and a much greater emphasis on equality of access.
The festival's programmes are free of charge, but registration is required for several events.
