Fairy Tears

The dragon takes a fancy to the fairy with golden hair (a Hungarian Goldilocks) and kidnaps her. He takes her back to his empire, locks her up and possesses the beautiful maiden. A half-winged crow brings the bad tidings to the fairy’s family. Her brother sets out on a journey to free his sister from the dragon's captivity. With the help of miraculous powers, he defeats the three-headed dragon but sustains mortal wounds in the battle himself. Goldilocks’ tears of grief and mourning for her brother collect to form our beautiful lake, Balaton. This is just one of the legends Klára Tokody wrote based on folk tales in the region.

The story will come to life in a stage adaptation with the Balaton motifs familiar to the general public, including the Tihany echo and the Golden Bridge.

The story will be performed with giant puppets on the waters of Lake Balaton. The production is a story of brotherly love, loyalty and sacrifice, enriched with wonderful visual elements, performed by actors, musicians, dancers, and incorporating the constantly moving water.
