II. Carpathian Basin Folk and Chamber Festival

This competitive festival was launched in 2022 and will reach its pinnacle in 2023 in the form of a professional forum for Hungarian and across-the-border dance companies. The competitors will compete with chamber numbers, authentic dance choreographies, and thematic works using the Hungarian folk-dance heritage and present them to a jury of renowned professionals. In addition to being an actual competition for dancers and choreographers, the festival is also intended to be a permanent professional forum in the region to help dance communities in meeting and building their community.  

We will be joined by well-known figures from the Hungarian folk-dance scene including, among others, the Transylvanian Százlábú (Centipede) Dance Ensemble, the Ilosvai Folk Ensemble from Upper Hungary, and the Carpathian Folk Dance Ensemble. The Ördögcsáklya (Devil’s Claw) Dance Ensemble from Vojvodina is also invited. Szalonna (Bacon) and his band, Rackajam (Cakiel-jam) will put on a performance. And, of course, there will be children's and adult dance workshops and dance lessons with the Zagyva Band.
