INOTA
Aside from inclusion, the mission of contemporary culture has always been to respond to happenings in the world around us. The extreme challenges of the 21st century demand extra robust responses and this is where INOTA enters into the picture: the project establishes Hungary's biggest response-seeking, definitive audio-visual festival in Veszprém County, with and international line-up of dedicated artists, creators and visionaries.
You could say that INOTA 2023 will open an aesthetic dimension gateway in the area of the factory complex built in the 1950s, the gravity of which is expected to place the domestic programme alongside festivals with similar concepts such as CTM and Atonal in Berlin, Unsound in Krakow or Elevate in Austria - even entering into partnership with them in the future.
These events explore the dilemmas of the present and the possibilities of the future of humanity in a collective mix of experimental music, path-breaking visual art, forward-thinking contemporary dance, cutting-edge technology and related thought experiments, often transcending interdisciplinarity to create uncategorisable, novel, innovative, hybrid art forms. The likes of which we have never encountered before, but which will remain with us for a lifetime afterwards.
Just as the gas turbine power station was still humming away in the spectacular industrial area a few decades ago, supplying electricity to a large part of the country, INOTA will provide the latest impulses to those who are open to creations and technologies that sometimes go beyond the current age. And the project doesn't stop there: INOTA's firm objective is to create a professional dialogue between representatives of the different artistic disciplines and the creative industries, in order to develop a forward-looking, ambitious vision of the potential uses of the complex at the foot of the three iconic cooling towers.
But the primary aim is to encourage collective thinking: INOTA will be a festival, but beyond entertainment, it aims to motivate, energise, spark ideas, plant seeds of ideas in the mind of the spectator - who may in time become one of the creators of the event. Autumn 2023 and the five capital letters above are worth penciling into your diaries now.
