The Knowledge of Our Ancestors
The joint programme of the 20-year-old House of Traditions and the 70-year-old State Folk Ensemble.
ActiCity, the new home of Veszprém’s folk-dance community, will be completed and inaugurated in the spring of 2023. It will open its doors with a worthy programme in partnership with the House of Traditions. The vision of the House of Traditions is a Carpathian Basin where Hungarian folk art is not considered a remnant of a shameful past but a treasure-house of knowledge for future generations. They will bring the knowledge they have gathered over decades to Veszprém for a weekend-long folk-art festival.
The Hungarian State Folk Ensemble will perform an entire evening programme, while amateur folk dance and music groups from the region will take over the new Dancehall (Táncház) during the day. In 2023, Veszprém County and Covasna County in Transylvania will celebrate the 30th anniversary of their cooperation. The Háromszék Folk Dance Ensemble from Sepsisentgyörgy, the Ajka-Padragkút Folk Dance Ensemble and the Veszprém-Bakony Folk Dance Ensemble from Ajka will take to the stage together. The Carpathian Dance Ensemble will perform the gala show, led by the special guest, Szilveszter Sikentánc.
