The competition brief is based on our new name “Veszprém-Balaton 2023 European Capital of Culture” to emphasise the importance of the cooperation between the city and the region.
“The previous branding has been designed 2 years ago, when we started to take part in the ECoC competition. Time has passed and a lot has changed. We won the title for 2023.
Since the announcement we have concentrated on building the team and the organisation, creating the institution processes and focusing on investment, communication and programme strategies. We feel that to succeed it is necessary for the visual identity to stay fresh and reflect on our future programmes and identity for the next five years.
The ECoC team has selected and shortlisted seven designers to invite to take part in the branding competition. We were looking for creatives who can evidently think up a complex strategy or have experiences in similar projects. We are glad to have two competitors from the region as well.” – said Zoltán Meszáros, the director of the Veszprém-Balaton 2023 Plc.
