Veszprém-Balaton FILMPICNIC to Take Place in SEPTEMBER
Veszprém-Balaton Filmpicnic will present the awardees of the Hungarian Motion Picture Festival along with the best classics of our country, and the venues are going to be open-air and quite unconventional.
The modified dates and the epidemc situation have given a new aim to the event: “It was more than two months ago that Hungarian cinemas had to close; this is enough time even for those who otherwise do not go to the movies that often to develop an appetite for the big screen.
With atmospheric screening venues in Veszprém and by the Lake organisers would like to create an exciting scene to allow Hungarian films meet their audiences again. It is not as a merely motion picture event that we look upon Filmpicnic: we have put up lots of accompanying programmes, music and gastronomy, among others, to make our palette more colourful,”-said Péter Muszatics, artistic director of the event.
“Filmpicnic will naturally not lose its professional aspects, either: we still consider it important to serve as a meeting place for filmmakers and further strengthen the role of cinematic and motion picture art in Veszprém and the Bakony-Balaton region,”- the professional leader continued.
Part of the European capital of Culture programme, the new film event is based on close cooperation between ECoC Veszprém-Balaton 2023, the National Film Institute and the Hungarian Film Academy.
