InterUrban: Gyumri - Armenian child choir 3. concert (AM)
The youth choir of Gyumri visits Veszprém and its region on a three-day trip with concerts on each, as befits an ambitious ensemble made up of the clearest young voices of Armenia’s second city.
Led by conductor Sona Zarafyan they sing the works of Armenian as well as Western composers, delighting listeners with new and known harmonies. Pieces by Armenia’s preeminent Komitas, as well as Rachmaninoff, Rameau and Pergolesi resound as the prize-winning choir fill the locations of their mini-tour. First a catholic church in picturesque Vöröstó, on their second day Veszprém’s renowned music school, finally a protestant church in Hévíz host the Armenian youth, adding colour and excitement to the region's vivid choral life.
