Jazz Divas vol.2. HAJDU KLÁRA QUARTET feat. BORBÉLY MIHÁLY

Our vocal jazz series for happy Monday evenings in first half 2023 with wonderful divas and sensational orchestras - vol.2.

Klára Hajdu is an outstanding singer-songwriter and teacher of the Hungarian jazz scene. The editors of MagyarJazz and the readers of Jazzma.hu voted her the singer of the year 2021. She has performed in clubs and festivals in many major cities across Europe and the USA. For almost a decade she sang with the popular two-time Fonogram-winner and gold record producer Elemér Balázs Group.

For 15 years, her own quartet has been a recognised band in the jazz profession. They have released four albums to date, which have been received with enthusiastic acclaim by both the profession and the public. Their songs are played on radio stations from Europe to Mexico and streamed in over 30 countries. All their albums to date are available on the shelves of record stores in Japan.

Their album "Plays Standards Dedicated to Chet Baker" was nominated for a Fonogram Award for "Hungarian Jazz Album of the Year" in early 2017 and their 3rd album "Journey" was nominated for a Fonogram Award in 2021.

Klára was also noticed as a songwriter when her composition "You're Gonna Rise" - which she arranged with her partner Milán Szakonyi - was selected by the jury of "A Dal2019" as one of the 30 best songs of the year.

In the spring of 2022, 'Fúvom az énekem' was released, featuring Klára's favourite Hungarian folk songs in the quartet's familiar sound and instrumentation. This time, the orchestra's guest is the Kossuth and Liszt Ferenc Award-winning clarinettist and saxophonist Mihály Borbély, who will join the quartet this evening to present their new album to the audience in Veszprém.
