The Pontiac at Veszprém Blues Festival!

Moving from blues foundations to melodic rock, The Pontiac started in 2017. Their first material was written in English, and was much more rooted in the blues tradition. They switched to Hungarian in 2020, and this change has also influenced the music. Of the songs in their mother tongue, the breakthrough was definitely Az lenne csak szép ("That Would be Somethin’ Great"), either in terms of popularity on the video sharing site or in terms of weeks on the Petőfi Radio domestic top charts. The band has toured as opening acts for Margaret Island and Blahalouisiana, in addition to festival appearances.

In October 2021, they released their second (and first Hungarian-language) album, Jöhet velünk bárki ("Anyone can come with us"). At the beginning of 2022, the band's frontman Barnabás Nagy was nominated for the Petőfi Music Award in the category of Male Performer of the Year. Their song "Csak a csend van" (There's Only Silence), released this year, has also made the Petőfi Radio hit list.
