3 Grammy awards, 14 albums, 8 live albums, 3.4 billion downloads and dozens of world hits - that's the short balance sheet of Toto, founded in 1977. The Californian band is one of the few bands of the 1970s that have survived changing trends and styles while remaining relevant and consistently successful.
Toto was started under the leadership of David Paich and Jeff Porcaro, joined by guitarist Steve Lukhater - a singer who has played with Miachael Jackson, Earth, Wind&Fire, Eddie Van Halen, Carlos Santana, Jeff Beck, Elton John, Quincy Jones, Al Di Meola, Eric Clapton, Cher, Lionel Richie, among others, and is one of the most sought-after session musicians in the world.
Toto's first album was released in 1978, followed by countless excellent albums. Their best-known songs Africa, Hold the Line, Rosanna, I'll Be Over You and Georgy Porgy are still essential radio hits.
Combining elements of pop, soul, funk, progressive rock, hard rock, R&B, blues and jazz, they have sold more than 40 million records worldwide and were inducted into the Musicians Hall of Fame in 2009.
Although Toto decided to disband in 2008, they reactivated in 2010. They have performed on almost every major stage in the world, touring the globe. Although founder Jeff Porcaro passed away in 1992, Toto still dedicates every gig to the musician. And so it will be in Veszprém, where Toto, led by Steve Lukather and Joseph Williams, will perform a selection of the greatest hits of the band's career.
