- POKET X BALATON X VESZPRÉM Category: Projects The POKET community, with the support of VEB2023, is a partner in a project to install Book-o-mats in Veszprém and Balaton and publish anthologies about the region.
- Concerts Among the Ruins Category: Projects Veszprém and the Lake Balaton Highlands have a uniquely rich medieval heritage, with numerous remains and ruins of monasteries, churches, chapels, and castles. These ruins will fill up with life and art during the Veszprém-Balaton 2023 European Capital of Culture’s Concerts Among the Ruins [in Hungarian: Romkoncertek] series.
- Hungarian Motion Picture Festival in Veszprém and on Lake Balaton Category: Projects For the first time in 2021, the new Hungarian Motion Picture Festival took place in the beautiful Veszprém-Balaton region, with open-air screenings, premieres of the latest Hungarian movies, international festival winners, stars, audience meetings, children and youth programmes, restored classics, exhibitions, concerts, and gastronomy programmes.
- Music Hungary Showcase Category: Projects In 2021, the Music Hungary Association and VEB2023 ECoC Programme jointly organized a free showcase festival in Veszprém to coincide with the music industry conference. The intent was to introduce recent newcomers to the Hungarian popular music scene.
- Hangár Popular Music Centre Category: Projects The Hangár (Hangar, but also meaning Sound Stream) Popular Music Centre is a Hangjáték (Musicmaker) Project, an element launched as part of the Veszprém-Balaton 2023 European Capital of Culture (ECoC) Programme. Hangjáték’s mission, such as that of Hangár, is to have the most people per capita in Hungary who play music in and around Veszprém. The effort is in line with the UNESCO City of Music title awarded to the city in 2019.
- Holtszezon (Off-Season) Contemporary Literary Festival Category: Projects In 2022 we organised and developed the first ever contemporary literary festival in downtown Veszprém with concerts, theatrical performances, talks, and workshops.
- The ‘Karaffa’ Competition Category: Projects In 2023, the year when Veszprém and the Bakony-Balaton Region will be the European Capital of Culture, Hungarians will also celebrate the 200th anniversary of the birth of their great poet, Sándor Petőfi.
