Balaton Wine and Gourmet is the Balaton region’s stopgap and tradition-creating food and beverage festival and the flagship gastronomic event of the VEB2023 European Capital of Culture programme.

The festival will be held in early autumn, when the traditional summer holiday season has ended, and will extend the Balaton season with its gastronomic and cultural offer.

The venue is Veszprém Valley, one of the most attractive green areas of Veszprém, bordered by a stream and shady trees. The festival sites will include the interior hall of the Jesuit Church, and its special atmosphere.

With a rich list of events, the four-day festival aims to appeal to the general public and professional visitors interested in gastronomy and wine culture, without forgetting the youngest visitors, offering them a memorable food and family experience.

In addition to the Hungarian participants and programmes, there will be a special section dedicated to the neighbouring countries’ food and beverage culture. Japan and Spain are the guests of honour countries in 2022, as France and Italy will be in 2023, bringing Hungarian culinary heritage and wine traditions onto the international stage.

Masterclasses, large-scale open-kitchen demonstrations, round-table discussions, stage performances, guided tastings, seated dinners, the presence of national and international experts, and a relaxed, light-hearted atmosphere accompanied by the best food and the finest wines and other beverages will be on the menu.
