The biggest celebration of gastronomy in the Veszprém-Balaton 2023 European Capital of Culture Programme, the Balaton Wine&Gourmet fest, will take place in Veszprém between 29 September and 2 October. The four-day festival of quality food and beverage in the unique setting of the Veszprém Valley will showcase the region's best restaurants and wineries. In addition to public programmes, there will be professional workshops, master classes and culinary specialities from two guest countries, Japan, and Spain.

Aromas, flavours, and experiences in the shady, end-of-summer groves of the Veszprém Valley: the region's biggest culinary event ever, Balaton Wine&Gourmet, will take place from 29 September to 2 October 2022.

The Balaton Wine&Gourmet will showcase the culinary heritage, winemaking traditions, and increasingly exciting food culture of the Veszprém-Bakony-Balaton region to all who wish to immerse themselves in the world of food and beverages of the area for one or more pleasant days. It will happen in the uniquely beautiful natural and built environment of the Veszprém Valley, under shady canopies on the banks of Séd stream, near the ruins of a Jesuit church and garden built in the 18th century. And all this will go hand in hand with a real sense of environmentally conscious, sustainable gastronomy and lifestyle.

The culinary festival aims to fill a niche and create a tradition. It will bring the region's best and most exciting restaurants and wineries to present their diverse dishes to domestic and foreign gourmets. Balaton Wine&Gourmet will also be the region's only 'terroir' wine festival, where all six Balaton wine regions and all wine trends - traditional, new wave, biodynamic and natural - will be represented.

In addition to local and other domestic kitchens and wineries, the event, scheduled to return every year, will also invite nations that are significant players in the world of gastronomy and beverages. This year, Spanish and Japanese cuisine and beverage culture will be in the limelight.

There will be stage shows, guided tastings and quality exhibitors, professional programmes, workshops and master classes with national and international experts, Michelin-starred chefs and invited experts.
