BARN PROGRAMME
When places of residence turn into real communities.
The main objective of the Barn Programme is to help small communities in accessing important cultural services relevant to their local communities and in expanding the cultural offer to them. The project supports proactive efforts by local cultural institutions and NGOs to develop meaningful cultural capacities.
The multifunctional community space of barns can host a wide range of cultural events: concerts and exhibitions, clubs, community celebrations, educational, training and leisure activities - whatever is relevant to the organisers and the public.
Away from the hustle and bustle of tourism and working 365 days a year, modern barns will be local hubs of cultural dynamics. They will link the locality’s spirit with the values of contemporary culture and communicate these values to the inhabitants as a home of tradition, innovation and sophistication.
Through the application scheme, the capacity-building programme will support multi-faceted, multi-cultural projects, programmes and events initiated by local cultural institutions. In 2023, the number of Barns Programme communities will certainly grow from the present 14 settlements.
