Gábor Michalkó is a geographer and tourism researcher, a professor at the Institute of Business Studies at the Faculty of Economics of the University of Pannonia and the head of the Doctoral School of Management and Organisational Sciences. He is also a scientific adviser at the HUN-REN CSFK Institute of Geography. His research focusses on exploring the spatial and temporal phenomena and processes of tourism, with a particular emphasis on urban tourism, shopping tourism and tourism safety. He has made significant contributions to understanding the relationship between tourism and quality of life and is currently researching the psychology of ‘good places’.
