Our Circles of Values
Veszprém County settlements are rich in cultural traditions and values, some of which are not sufficiently explored or are only known by the locals. However, they may be of interest and value to others, and there are many common points shared with other regions. In the context of the Our Scopes of Values programme, we are working with nine municipalities in the region of Bakonynána, Nyírád and Berhida. They are all interested in participating in the joint endeavour together with their active communities and public education professionals.
The settlements in the programme are in different areas of the county.They have different historical and cultural traditions, however, they share many of them (e.g. mining, Swabian traditions andreligious customs). We relyon community activity, volunteers, the activities of local heritage centres and the creative efforts of public education professionals.
The project is based on a complex, multi-stage, value-based, community-building and thematic development process. In the nine municipalities, the values and traditions of the municipalities will be explored through a series of discussions with local people. The results are then presented in local-regional-county arts and culture programmes aimed at the general public. We hope to build on the common ground we have identified to establish longer-term cooperation between the municipalities of the three regions.
The stages of development, community building and cooperation will be built step by step, and the results will be visible in the programmes to be implemented in 2023:
1) April 2022 - December 2022 - Municipal Scopes of Values: Community discussions on values and traditions with external mentors, local volunteers and collaborators. Small local arts and culture shows based on the ideas they gather.
2) January 2023 - March 2023 - Area Scopes of Values: Community discussions of the three municipalities, agreement on common points, village walks.
3.) April 2023 - June 2023 – Scope of Values, the Picture: A cultural-arts weekend in three municipalities per region, based on the identified shared values and traditions: presentation by artist groups, exhibitions, gastronomy, interactive programmes, professional lectures.
4) November 2023 - Veszprém County Festival of Values: Presentation of regional developments, with the invitation to communities of professionals from abroad, along the theme of the Scopes of Values.
