VeszprémFest

2023 is a special year in VeszprémFest history. Not only because the festival, with its many programmes, is one of the flagship events of the Veszprém-Balaton European Capital of Culture 2023 programme series but also because it celebrates its 20th anniversary this year. 

Over two decades, this premium music festival, faithful to the ambitious mission it committed itself to at the very beginning, has presented over 100 world-class musical acts to Hungarian audiences.

Set in uniquely beautiful surroundings even by international standards, a succession of world stars from jazz, blues, world music, soul, fusion, pop, classical instrumental music, and opera have graced the festival's stages. Far from being the complete list, the festival has hosted fantastic artists such as Lisa Stansfield, Gregory Porter, Jamie Cullum, Emeli Sandé, Kool & the Gang, Katie Melua, Vaya Con Dios, Diana Krall, José Cura, Nigel Kennedy, and many more, including Al Di Meola, Paco de Lucia, Zoltán Kocsis, Herbie Hancock, Chick Corea, Jan Garbarek, Erika Miklósa, Ramon Vargas, The Gypsy Kings, Buena Vista Social Club with Omara Portuondo, Craig David, ZAZ, James Blunt, and Sir Tom Jones. 

It is hard to count the number of sold-out performances and memorable moments on this stage. The magical atmosphere of Veszprém, built on seven hills, and the ambience of the leading concert venues, harmoniously integrated into the natural and built environment of the city make the concert experience here inimitable.

The 20th anniversary VeszprémFest, in 2023, to be held over six days at four venues, promises to have the strongest bill ever. The birthday will be celebrated by a line-up of the world's biggest stars, with opera being part of the celebration. Although the organisers are keeping the name under wraps for now, we have learned that one of the genre’s biggest stars will be there to add even more glitter to the anniversary festival.
