PROFESSOR CLIVE CHANDLER’S WORLD FAMOUS PUNCH AND JUDY SHOW 

Clive Chandler is a leading performer of the traditional Punch & Judy show, with a strong national and international reputation. This is a robust style of entertainment that has been widely popular in England for more than 360 years. Performers of Punch are known as 'professors', and Professor Chandler has been presenting his 'World Famous' show more than three decades to great acclaim. He plays to all sorts of people in all sorts of places. He is highly experienced in the art of raising smiles. Mr Punch is relative of the Italian Pulcinella and is a proud part of a wider tradition or family of popular puppets with cousins in many lands. That said, there is something essentially English about Mr Punch and his show is quite distinctive. Clive has travelled to many countries with his portable little theatre, but this is a rare opportunity to see him at work in Hungary. 

The colourful cast of glove puppets, in the hands of a true professional, deliver a show that is full of fast moving and funny physical action. It will be presented in English, although its simple silliness should make it sufficiently understandable to all, regardless of spoken language. It is a show for the young and the young at heart, for the child and the child inside us all. It is a joy for all ages. As well as Mr Punch, speaking with his distinctive high-pitched voice, you will meet his wife Judy, and encounter the Horse, the Baby, the Policeman, and the Devil. Oh, and watch out for the Crocodile!
